The recently adopted net zero targets are designed to reduce our carbon emissions and mitigate the long-term impacts of climate change. Yet, even with these targets, we live in world that will see warming of 1.5-2°C, where climate change will continue to increase the severity and frequency of extreme events – such as floods and droughts – which disproportionately impact the world’s most vulnerable populations.
