In this episode Amanda Carpenter (Achill Management) talks about pro bono support with guests Olga Hancock, who leads the pro bono practice at international law firm Simmons & Simmons, Pascale Bird, coordinator of Legal Response International’s legal advisory service and Charlotte Davis from Christian Aid.  We talk about what pro bono is, who does it and why and what it means to those in receipt of it.

Olga Hancock

Olga leads the pro bono practice at international law firm Simmons & Simmons in 18 offices in Europe, the Middle East and Asia. The practice focuses on access to justice for individuals, social and environmental responsibility and promoting the rule of law in line with UN Sustainable Development Goal 16. Olga previously worked as an environmental lawyer in major law firms, local government and at the International Development Law Organisation, and has worked in the UK, Australia and Indonesia. Olga is a qualified lawyer in England & Wales and NSW, Australia, and holds a BA/ LLB (Hons) and a Master of International Studies (Hons) from the University of Sydney.

Charlotte Davis

Charlotte lives in London working for an International NGO . A languages graduate, Charlotte has lived in Spain and Mexico and has a passion for international travel. Working in the charity sector for the past 10 years Charlotte has focused on working with the private sector to support NGOs campaigning and programmatic work across the developing world.

Pascale Bird

Pascale coordinates Legal Response International’s legal advisory service. She is a qualified solicitor and holds an LLM in International Business Law and an MA in Geopolitics, Territory and Security. Before joining LRI, she worked as an Associate and Professional Support Lawyer in the EU and Competition department of Simmons & Simmons, provided consulting services on knowledge management to Magus Research Ltd and volunteered for Oxfam, project managing a book on climate change liability.​
